Frequently, asphalt cement weigh hoppers overflow causing damage to trucks, extensive cleanup, waste of expensive liquid, and serious danger to personnel.  The liability your company is exposed to is enormous, particularly, with the juries awarding large sums of money in today’s lawsuits.

There are a number of reasons these spills occur.  Sometimes it is human error, but often it is equipment malfunction.  They will occur if the AC valve sticks open, the plant automation malfunctions, an AC gate failure, a mechanical switch failure, or an inattentive plant operator.  The equipment presently used to prevent the spills are inaccurate and use mechanical devices that are not tested and frequently do not operate properly when required to do so.

Libra has developed a Model 1171 High Weight Detector that is independent of everything except the Digital Weight Indicator.  The Model 1171 is connected to and independently monitors the weight in the AC hopper via a Cardinal 200/205 Digital Weight Indicator.  If the weight in the AC hopper exceeds the maximum allowable weight, determined by you, the 1171 removes the electrical power to the AC pump.  If the pump pressure is removed, no additional liquid will flow, even if the AC valve is open.

The 1171 connects directly into the Digital Weight Indicator and only requires two wires from the AC pump.

“Thanks for your help with the aggregate loadout system. It’s worth every penny, and it is working beautifully. That’s not an easy thing for a skeptic like me to admit. Also, Greg did a fantastic job on the installation and training for us. I think you get an A for responsiveness, effort, and results”
